Most resorts and hotels on Koh Samet operate their very own beachside restaurants, which often serve an array of Thai and worldwide cuisine. If you like much more of a tropical atmosphere and much easier local food, then mind to Sai Kaew Beach, Ao Phai, or Ao Hin Khok (between Sai Kaew and Ao Phai).

Taking up both of these popular hangout spots are endless rows of sea food joints, placed in an identical chilled-out style at dusk, with low, romantic tables and hay mats laden with triangular cushions and pillows. The meals, however, is hit or miss and it is extremely difficult to inform which place serves great sea food and which is simply a plain scam. The best way forward would be to discuss with or read the menu before you decide to choose a table.

Throughout your day, hawkers roam the greater popular beaches, selling from fruit, coconut juice, dried squids, som-tam (fiery papaya salad) to beach shawls, fake tats as well as Thai massage.
